When a Community Comes Together

CIMA Network golf tournament supports LEN.
Since inception, CIMA Network has faithfully supported the programs of Lakeside Educational Network.

Many nonprofits have fundraisers and events that both inspire those who attend and acknowledge those who provide support. For me, one of the great pleasures in being a nonprofit is seeing the impact of our programs for students and families. It is gratifying to see the impact and humbling to acknowledge the validation and support.

Such was the case this past Monday for Lakeside Educational Network.

A few years ago, we were privileged to assist a business called CIMA Network get its start.  CIMA and its staff have built a significant and successful business in image-focused signage. Since inception, the company has faithfully supported the programs of Lakeside Educational Network. It has been a wonderful, mutually beneficial relationship.

CIMA sponsored our second annual golf tournament

This Monday, they gave, volunteered, sponsored, recruited and invited their constituency to play golf. The entire day was well-organized and smoothly handled. Activities included lots of auction items, raffles, enjoyable golf with an overall great spirit.

Inspirational stories

At dinner, a parent and student in one of Lakeside’s programs spoke about the intense struggles faced—mental health, education, drug and alcohol, defiance and related issues. Through the touch of Lakeside’s staff, an incredible turnaround occurred, and this young woman became Student Council President and a leader in our program. Her story received a huge round of applause.

As I reflected on the 100 or so golfers clapping, affirming and giving of their time and energy to be there, I couldn’t help but think about how amazing it is when people come together and inspire each other by sharing their stories. The group consisted of individuals who work and live in our neighborhoods, who took time from their busy lives to stand with students and families in need.

Yes, the day was fun and we all enjoyed it. But the image of a community working together to support students, families and each other was just inspiring to me. I believe it encouraged all of us.

I urge you to support your favorite cause.

I wish to thank the leadership and staff of both Lakeside and CIMA for their labor of love and support for our programs. I also want to thank all those who attended for being a part of our system of support, and for inspiring me by their presence.

It is an amazing experience to see a community in action having fun, supporting valuable work and inspiring one another in support of students and families in need. Great moments to remember. . .

Thank you, thank you. . .Thank you!
