Changing Urban Academic Culture

Often our cities’ school systems get dismissed as having very little hope for change.  True, some of the graduation and academic statistics coming out of urban schools can be incredibly discouraging…they can shed a very difficult light on students and parents in our cities to convince us of a never-ending well of dysfunction and failure. But there are exceptions.

There are some very bright stars in  the education fabric of our cities, such as the Brooklyn College Academy.  The following inspiring article proves that success can be a possibility for some of our tougher city environments. See what goes on in this great innovative school:

I am so deeply appreciative of these very committed educators who are truly making a difference in New York City.  It is inspiring to see how they really are helping so many students graduate then rise to significant accomplishments in their lives.

We need these types of initiatives nationwide in our cities. It is very encouraging to catch the vision of this exciting school in an urban setting.

Congratulations to the administrators, supporters and students in this wonderful school.
